The 33-year-old actress, who has been open about her struggles with addiction and depression, revealed she lost custody of Kaya, now seven, after her daughter moved to Ukraine with Hayden’s ex Wladimir Klitschko.
Red Table Talk clip revealed by Entertainment Tonight, she said: “He was almost three years old and it wasn’t my decision at all. In fact, I didn’t even know it happened until he was already there.” The
Heroes star explained that he realized he had to focus on himself and the “selfless thing” would be to focus on himself.
She added: “I tried to tell myself that if I’m not okay, if I’m not good, I can’t be the best mother for you.

Hayden, who later spent eight months in rehab, previously discussed her struggle with alcoholism after Kaya moved in with her father.
She said: “I woke up shaking and could only manage by drinking alcohol.
“It was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do. But I wanted to be a good mother to him – and sometimes that means letting them go.”
Hayden, who suffers from depression, explained that although she “never felt like I wanted to harm my child,” she did” t. “I don’t want to date him.”
Reflecting on her relationship with ex Klitschko – which ended for good in 2018 – she added: “He didn’t want to be around me. I didn’t want to be around myself. But with opiates and alcohol, I would do anything to make myself happy for a moment. Then I would feel worse than before. I was in a cycle of self-destruction
